A Donegal-based crook exposed by donegaldaily.com as the mastermind of a multi-million euro scam will try to overturn a jail sentence by claiming an order to fully disclose all his assets was draconian!Fugitive Francois de Dietrich has been given a date in January for his appeal against an 18-month term imposed on him for contempt of court. With a warrant out for his arrest, he was last seen in France. People on both sides of the border fear they may have lost millions in investments in liquidated stock.Members of the business community, sporting figures and even travellers handed over money to de Dietrich, but the scam began to unravel when donegaldaily.com began investigating him last year.Court proceedings launched by the Financial Services Authority led to an injunction banning de Dietrich and his company ETIC Solutions from taking any more deposits. The regulatory body also obtained an initial order freezing more than Stg£20m in assets linked to the businessman. De Dietrich, a Frenchman formerly based in Ballybofey, was then held to be in contempt of an order to disclose his global financial affairs in full to the FSA.He is now preparing to contest that finding on the basis that there is no allegation of wrong-doing outside of the North and the Republic of Ireland!!!!It will be contended that he has complied with requirements to reveal all his business interests on both sides of the order. (Though the order related to outside the jurisdictions!)On that basis his legal team are expected to argue that imprisoning him was an excessively draconian outcome.De Dietrich has denied any fraudulent behaviour and, in a statement through his lawyers, claimed to operate legitimate businesses which have been unable to trade due to the legal action. The Court of Appeal was told on Thursday that his challenge has been listed for a one-day hearing on 9 January.CROOK FRANCOIS: ‘I DON’T WANT TO GO TO JAIL’ was last modified: October 7th, 2011 by BrendaShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Tags:crookFrancois de Dietrichfraudsterthief

zoom Chinese shipyard Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding has hired France-based Gaztransport et Technigaz (GTT) to design liquefied natural gas tanks for two floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs).The contract is related to two dual purpose vessels, which are capable of operating as efficient LNG carriers and FSRUs, which are under construction at Shanghai, China. The vessels are being built for LNG transportation company Dynagas and are scheduled to be delivered in 2021.Under the deal, GTT will design the LNG tanks of both units, each with a capacity of 174,000 m3. The French marine engineering firm said that the membrane cryogenic containment system NO96 GW, with glass wool insulation, will be used for the LNG storage on board. Currently, 14 vessels in operation and 42 on order use this technology.“We are pleased to once again accompany the ship-owner Dynagas in its continued development in the LNG industry and to contribute to the very first FSRUs built by our Chinese partner Hudong-Zhonghua. This new order highlights the trusting relationships GTT maintains with this shipyard, which is part of the biggest shipbuilding group in China,” Philippe Berterottière, Chairman and CEO of GTT, said.
