Discussion on social movement within the Caribbean, economic integration and the promotion of women are expected to form an integral part of the 11th Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) set to take place from February 5th in Caracas.Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit left the island today, along with several other government ministers and officials to attend the summit.ALBA Coordinator Ambassador Dr. Philbert Aaron says this Summit will strengthen the relationship which exists between Dominica and the other ALBA member countries.“Dominica was the first English speaking member of ALBA and this is a signal of Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit told decision making with our region. The attendance of Dominica at the summit will further emphasize that Dominica is a player in the policy areas within our region. It is of great importance for Dominica that we are taking part in this event”.Dr. Philbert Aaron stated further that there will also be talks on how the region can increase its trade.The Summit is the brain child of Chavez and his Bolivarian dreams, ALBA has as full members besides Venezuela and Cuba, Ecuador, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.Dominica Vibes News Sharelast_img read more
