first_imgImage: Decatur County Criminal CourtThe Decatur County Courthouse suffered minor damage after the wintry weather this past weekend.The Greensburg Daily News is reporting that ice in a gutter resulted leaky roof that caused damage to ceiling tiles, carpet and plaster in the building.The fire alarm was set off after water leaked into the building and reached a smoke detector.Damage estimates could cost between $5,000 and $7,000, the newspaper reported.The Greensburg Fire Department, Decatur County Sheriff’s Department, Minute Maid’s Cleaning Service and Ellerman’s Roofing assisted in limiting damage.last_img

Missigher wins inaugural AAG/Oasis Water 5km Run/Walk

first_imgWINSTON Missigher clocked 15 minutes, 45.25 seconds yesterday to win the inaugural Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG), Oasis Water 5km Run/Walk, after a close finish with Cleveland Thomas (15:46.43).A strong field contested the first-time event and it came down to a sprint between Missigher and Thomas, with the latter falling behind just before crossing the line.Jonathan Fagundes was third, running a time of 16:34.53, while Anfernee Headecker’s time of 16:01.84, earned him fourth place in the seniors. He, however, placed first in the junior category.President of the AAG, Aubrey Hutson, thanked the athletes for making the event a success, while also showering the Guyana Beverage Company with praises. He also expressed hope that the event sparks a continued relationship between the athletics governing body and the entity.The race started inside the National Park, then saw the athletes heading onto Thomas Lands, then to Carifesta Avenue, down Camp Street and back onto Thomas Lands before returning to the National Park and finishing at the Children’s Monument.The winner of the senior categories received $35,000, while second and third collected $25,000 and $20,000 respectively.last_img read more
