Shannon Center for the Performing Arts, 6760 Painter Ave. Latino Graduation is an opportunity for Latino students at Whittier College to honor each other, their families and their unique college experience. Maria Contreras-Sweet will be the guest speaker on this day, and other afternoon events will consist of music by Mariachi Sol de Mexico, and dance performances by members of the Hispanic Student Association. Landfill usage to be discussed WHITTIER – The Puente Hills Landfill Native Habitat Preservation Authority, a government park agency, is hosting a meeting Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, located at 12230 Penn St., to receive public comment on its draft resource management plan and environmental document. The plan will guide the preservation and recreational uses of land managed and/or owned by the Habitat Authority. The main components of the draft RMP include habitat restoration, fuel modification management, a trails plan and other areas. For more information, call (562) 945-9003. Mobility program set for seniors LA MIRADA – The city of La Mirada in partnership with Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital will host an eight-week balance and mobility program for seniors in July. Those interested must sign up as soon as possible with the La Mirada Activity Center, located at 13810 La Mirada Blvd., to be screened for eligibility. A clearance signed by a doctor is also necessary to be part of the free program.
