STAR PREVIEW Chelsea v Derby County

first_imgPROFIT/LOSS SINCE JAN 1 2017: PROFIT 177.97 points(not including Premier League ante-post) Both Maurizio Sarri and Frank Lampard had huge challenges to go with their big managerial posts this season, but both head into November having made an excellent start as Chelsea and Derby clash ahead of their Carabao Cup clash tonight.Sarri’s Chelsea side have gone unbeaten in all competitions so far, keeping pace with the leaders in the Premier League and winning all three of their Europa League games. One of their most impressive performances came in the EFL Cup, when they won 2-1 at Liverpool thanks to the magic of Eden Hazard. Hazard will miss out tonight but the Blues – as evidenced by their Europa League performances – have a strong squad to choose from.Maurizio Sarri may need to drop Willian after starting the past nine games in all competitions, along with Pedro after his stomach ache on Saturday, Emerson and Fabregas are still likely to start in midfield whilst Reuben-Loftus Cheek – fresh from a hat-trick against BATE – will take his place in the starting XI.Frank Lampard’s Derby have really hit form since a rocky start, and the former Chelsea man will be expecting a special welcome following his exploits there. Derby are one of several clubs involved in the Championship title race and they dominated their encounter with Middlesbrough over the weekend, with a staggering 80% possession in the first 20 minutes. That was five games unbeaten and, in this competition, they managed to beat none other than Manchester United in the last round too, winning on penalties after a 2-2 draw in normal time. The hosts needed a 95th-minute header from substitute Marouane Fellaini to send the match to penalties and Derby would have been entirely deserving of going through in 90 minutes. Mason Mount has been given permission to play against his parent club whilst Fikayo Tomori is also available, and Derby will line up with a strong team. That should be enough to put anyone off trying to squeeze value out of Chelsea at very short prices on any of the handicap lines, or indeed at around 1/4 on the match odds.Chelsea v DerbyCarabao Cup, 19:45Live on Sky SportsHEAD TO HEAD RECORD(Maximum 10 matches)DEC 2014 CAPITAL ONE CUP Derby 1-3 ChelseaJAN 2014 FA CUP Derby 0-2 ChelseaMAR 2008 PREMIER LEAGUE Chelsea 6-1 DerbyNOV 2007 PREMIER LEAGUE Derby 0-2 ChelseaMAR 2002 PREMIERSHIP Chelsea 2-1 DerbyOCT 2001 PREMIERSHIP Derby 1-1 ChelseaAPR 2001 PREMIERSHIP Derby 0-4 ChelseaDEC 2000 PREMIERSHIP Derby 4-1 DerbyMAY 2000 PREMIERSHIP Chelsea 4-0 DerbyOCT 1999 PREMIERSHIP Derby 3-1 ChelseaMAY 1999 PREMIERSHIP Chelsea 2-1 DerbyDEC 1998 PREMIERSHIP Derby 2-2 ChelseaThis could also be a game with plenty of goals. Chelsea (31) and Derby (30) have combined to score 61 goals in all competitions this season. That makes the 13/10 on Over 3.5 of interest whilst the 23/20 on Derby with a two-goal start is also interesting. This looks a match to be enjoyed, and perhaps the best bet might be to aim high and go for Over 3.5 goals.RECOMMENDED BETS (scale of 1-100 points)BACK OVER 3.5 GOALS 5 points at 13/10 with starsports.betlast_img read more
