From staff reports Leuzinger lost a heartbreaking 21-18 nonleague football game to Legacy, Colo., on Thursday night at Orange Coast College. Quarterback Glynn Toliver completed 11 of 17 passes for 190 yards and three touchdowns, but a fumble in the red zone with less than two minutes left allowed Legacy (2-0) to escape with a win. Toliver’s fourth-quarter miscue was Leuzinger’s sixth fumble of the game, the third inside the red zone. Leuzinger (1-1) also failed to score on each of its point-after-touchdown attempts, including a missed kick after a personal foul call on its first scoring play. “We just had too many mistakes. … too many turnovers,” Leuzinger coach Deon Toliver said. “They also made their PATs and we didn’t, and that was the difference.” Boys water polo Matt Pittluck had seven goals as El Segundo opened its season with two wins in the Ayala Tournament.
